I admit, I am a last-second Christmas shopper. While most people hate the hustle and bustle of shopping deep into December, I have always found it a welcome reminder of the season.

Getting up early, a cup of hot coffee or cocoa in hand, and heading out for a weekend of shopping I should have already done has long been part of my holiday tradition.

But if you are not like me, which most aren't, then Rogers-based Onyx Coffee Lab has got you covered with a last-minute gift for that java lover among your family and friends.

The local coffee business is offering two limited-edition seasonal roasts, Framily and Krampus, according to a news release.

The specialty coffees can be purchased individually or as part of holiday box sets for easy gifting.

Framily encapsulates the joy of gathering with loved ones during the holiday season. This washed Ethiopian coffee is a developed medium roast with complex cocoa notes mixed with sweet berry cobbler-like flavors, the release states.

In contrast, Onyx says its Krampus coffee stands as a bold representation of the unconventional spirit of the holidays. Well-developed and dense, this Kenyan peaberry selection boasts burned citrus and deep chocolate notes, according to the release.

Baked by Kori

A new bakery and wine bar plans to open in downtown Fayetteville early next year.

Baked by Kori announced via social media posts that the bakery is set on opening in early 2024 at 644 W. Dickson St.

According to their Facebook page, Baked by Kori is a full-service bakery as well as a dessert and wine bar, offering treats such as gourmet cookies, brownies, cake pops, cupcakes, muffins and more.

The business currently operates a location in Rogers at 128 S. Second St.

Check out the bakery's website for their full operating hours.

Amigos

There's a new restaurant open in downtown Fort Smith.

Amigos Bar and Grill announced on their Facebook page that it officially opened in early November at 613 Garrison Ave.

The restaurant offers a swath of bar foods, according to their menu, from burgers and fries to quesadillas and tacos.

Amigos is open every day from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., the restaurant's Google listing says.

Silver Tea

St. James Episcopal Church will hold its annual Silver Tea from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, according to a release.

This High Tea is a fundraiser for People Helping People, a nonprofit whose mission is providing prescription medications for those who are unable to afford them, the release states.

Admittance is by donation, and those who go are encouraged to wear red hats.

SantaCon

The modern holiday classic "Elf" claims that "the best way to spread Christmas is cheer singing loud for all to hear."

Perhaps.

Or...

If you are over 21, drape yourself in the best Santa, Elf or holiday costume you can muster and visit the bars, restaurants and shops of downtown Bentonville and Rogers from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday for SantaCon NWA!

According to the event's website, all participating establishments will have drink and/or food specials and sales which are only available to those that are decked out in holiday gear and have purchased their ticket with wristband.

Tickets can be purchased now through Saturday until 1 p.m. Check out the event website for tickets and more info on all the businesses that are participating.

The price is $10 with all proceeds going to Sharing & Caring of Benton County, a local nonprofit.

Personally, if I'm dressing up for the holiday, I'm rocking around the Christmas tree with a tattered tank top, jeans, bare feet and a smattering of fake blood as the one and only John McClane.

Yes, "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie. And among my favorites, at that.

Happy trails, Hans.
