Club News: MUFON, Christian Women, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War

The Fayetteville Lions Club, in conjunction with Lions Clubs International, sponsored an art contest for kids, known as the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. This art contest encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. Fayetteville Lions Club has conducted a contest locally for seven years. The theme of the 2023-24 contest is “Dare to Dream.” Students from three schools and the Boys & Girls Club submitted 46 art works for the competition. The four local winners and their teachers were recognized at a recent Lions Club lunch meeting. Their posters will be sent to a Lions Club District 7-I competition, with the district winner advancing to the Arkansas state competition. Assisting Lions Danny Walters and Sydney Bailey with the judging was retired Fayetteville Holcomb Elementary school teacher, Julie Brant. SUVCW

The McPherson Camp No. 1 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 at Foghorn's, 2221 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Members will gather at 6:30 p.m. for an off-the-menu meal and some time of fellowship.

The SUVCW is a patriotic, fraternal organization of male descendants of members of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard or of those who served as government officials between the years 1861-65. Associate memberships are available.

MUFON

The Northwest Section of Arkansas Mutual UFO Network will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Fayetteville Municipal Airport, 4500 S. School St. in Fayetteville.

The Agenda will include Arkansas UFO/UAP case reports, review of Pathways to Disclosure Project, UFO/UAP book reports, and an update on the NASA UFO Mission. At 11:30 a.m. Artie Lawless, SSD, will give a presentation on "The Witness Interview" for investigators and trainees. The meeting room will be open at 9:30 a.m. for early arrivals and browsing the expanded section library. Section meetings are open to members, guests and anyone with a genuine interest in UFOs/UAPs.

Christian Women

Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet for brunch from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista.

The inspirational speaker will be Pat Smith from Lancaster, Texas. Her message is titled "Pearls and the Red Room." Our special feature will be Pat's Trees and More by Pat Smith.

Breakfast is $10 and reservations and/or cancellations are essential by noon Dec. 8.

The December Prayer Connection for Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 at 3 Henry Circle in Bella Vista.

Reservations are not necessary for the Prayer Connection and all are welcome.
